The end of the summer is officially here. Sad realization, but it was fun and exciting while it lasted.
On the last weekend of the reveling season my sweet and romantic James gave me another amazing and well thought out birthday surprise. The first one was an intimate dinner party surprise with close friends and family at my mother’s home. Due to my birthday landing on the first day of fashion week, I was unable to truly celebrate my New Year celebration as I am accustomed to. Instead I worked throughout the weekend and the week that followed with little energy or time to go out and spend it out with the rest of civilization. The second adventure filled surprise began this past Friday evening. At first I didn’t understand that the plan was to leave within the hour when James asked me to pack and be ready to take our bags. I originally thought we would go later in the month. After a mild freak out from my part and back and forth of questions to James, I managed to get myself and my bag together. That Friday I broke my record time in packing history and learned the real feeling of surprises.A full weekend meant for relaxation, good company and the beach awaited me…the coolest beach house with an amazing back deck and a grill urging us to BBQ on (which we did). The house was located a train ride away in the Rockaway peninsula best known as the Rockaways. It has been a popular beach destination for New Yorkers since the 1830s, due to its easy accessibility from the urban jungle, New York City. In recent years it has developed into a very popular destination for surfing.James originally planned to surprise me with a trip to Europe but plans quickly altered when I gave him the sad news that my passport had expired the day after my birthday. The runner-up option was just what I needed after a long week of running around Manhattan. I got to get away from the city, relax, and he even surprised me by getting some of our best friends, and his brother Daniel who was visiting from London to come spend the weekend with us at the house. It was truly an amazing time and a weekend to remember forever.
